peripateticthinker asked: Hey this is a bit random I know aha, but I want to do my American Literature essay on Breakfast of Champions and I can't find much on it on the internet concerning Advertising and Mass Media! Do you know of anything?
Not at all, I’m glad you asked! First of all good choice!!!
And, my first port of call would be searching journals using your athens login, I don’t have access to mine anymore otherwise I’d have a look for you. And it definitely doesn’t help that there’s little to no books on Vonnegut in the library so reserve books if people are being selfish.
You will have to be inventive but the one guy who knows his Vonnegut is Jerome Klinkowitz. Another good resource is books by Vonnegut himself, ‘Wampeters, Foma and Granfalloons’ and ‘Palm Sunday’, filled with interviews with KV. Bilton lent me his in my last year and I’m sure he’d help out if you asked him.
I bought ‘Cite Them Rite’ (Palgrave) in my final year because of the lack of resources on Vonnegut which tells you how to cite from any resource so you can even use things like YouTube which will probably put you in good stead for versatility.
For the most part, you’ll have to rely on your analysis and thinking outside of the box in terms of perhaps looking at history books for the time at which he was writing, what was influencing him and his motivations.
I hope that helps a bit.
